Do you love to read? I never use to. I despised reading, loathed it. It was the worst thing ever to me. The thought of sitting still and staring at a page with words just wasn't on my "to do list". I'm not sure when my love for reading happened, but I couldn't imagine NOT reading now.
I set an intention at the beginning of 2019 to READ MORE. My goal was to read 1 book a month. Some books took me longer to read, while others I flew through.
My goal was to read 1 book a month.
As you look at this list of 14 books, you may see a theme or you may think I was all over the place with no rhyme or reason. And you would be right either way!
I had quite a few subjects of interest, all of them bleeding over to 2020. But one common theme was Personal Growth and Development.
*I hate how these books are labeled as 'self help' books. Can we all agree that this label needs to be changed to 'personal development'?*
These books, in one way or another, called to me to read them. One book lead into another and so on. Some of them were on my list of must reads and this year was the year that it happened. Others were recommendations from others that I follow on social media.
When I see a book that is interesting and I want to check it out, I screenshot it for later.
Needless to say, I have a very large folder on my phone that is filled with screenshots of books. They than get added to a list. I browse Indigo quite often, usually to stretch my legs and get movement into my body (I drive and sit most of my day). Just being in the bookstore relaxes me and puts me into a meditative state. All the paper, knowledge and adventure just pouring out of the shelves and walls! Endless possibilities and routes to take.
Here is list with links to the books (I use Indigo but you can find these on Amazon as well):
1. The Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga (Swami Vishna-devananda)
2. Chakra Balancing Workbook (Anodea Judith)
3. The Ultimate guide to Chakras (Athena Pertakis)
4. The Four Agreements (Don Miguel Ruiz)
5. The Motivation Manifesto (Brendon Barchard)
6. Girl, Wash Your Face (Rachel Hollis)
7. Girl, Stop Apologizing (Rachel Hollis)
8. Creating On Purpose (Anodea Judith)
9. The Power of Now (Eckhart Tolle)
10. Yamas & Nyamas ( Deborah Adele )
11. Beyond the Mat (Julie Rosenberg)
12. You Are a Badass (Jen Sincero)
13. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck (Mark Manson)
14. The Essence of Buddhism (Jo Durden Smith)
There you have it folks, my 2019 reading list. I would love to know what you read this year. Any books stand out as "must reads"? Comment below and I'll check them out.

You have a great selection of books to read. I have You’re a Badass on my list of books to read this year. I have read Jen Sincero’s book on money which was great. I love that she gives you tips on how to improve so you can put a plan in place. The Power of Now is another great one. I will definitely be checking out some of the other books on your list. I totally agree with you in regards to renaming self help to personal development. Have you applied what you’ve read to your life? Good post. Petrina 😊
